Hook Tyer
|
|
The hook is the business end of
any set up. Get this wrong and you will lose the fish.
A hook tyer, as shown, can help you
to get it right consistently.
|
The hook sits in the opening at
the front, and is secured by turning the wheel clockwise. Keep the
line out in front of you and bring the hook length down the side of
the 2 prongs, and round the back of the last one.
Now take the line up the other side
of the prongs and across the front, keeping it at right angles to
the tyer
|
|

Turn
the tyer anti-clockwise ensuring that the line to the right catches the
body of the hook. Give an average of 8 turns, which should be plenty for
most general fishing. Keep everything nice and tight.
|
|
After
the last turn, bring the line around the back of the front prong,
and keep it secure.
Next press the front prong down with
your thumb ready to tighten everything
up.
|
|

Once you press the
prong down, the line will slide over the back prong. Next wet the line
around the area where it will pull tight.
|
Finally, loosen
the wheel, and pull the hook clear allowing the line to pull through.
Trim the end and you're all set.
Remember, practice makes perfect, and if you can't get
your PC down to your swim, each tyer comes with instructions.
